In the year 2000, some Ayyappa devotees from Kashimira, Mira area formed a Bhajan group and initiated the formation of a committee called Sree Ayyappa Bhakta Seva Samiti. Soon they began performing Bhajans every Saturday at the Sree Mahalingeshwar Temple in Kashimira, Mira Society. Meanwhile, as devotees interacted during the Bhajan meetings, an opinion was upheld to build an Ayyappa temple for Ayyappa devotees. And thus, the committee, including the thirteen members from the Bhajan group, formed a trust in accordance with the Mumbai Charitable TrustActin 2002. The trust was registered as Sree Ayyappa Bhakta Seva Samiti. Later on, with the cooperation of Ayyappa devotees from that area, the committee members organized several cultural programs and generated enough funds to purchase a plot admeasuring 5000 sq. ft. The plot resembles the environs of the original Sree Shabarimala temple premises, bordering the National park forest area, at Mira Gouttan near Mahajan wadi. This was followed with a Maha Ganapati Homam under the auspices of Sree Kuttan Panicker, an Ashtamangalya Prashnam sought divine answers that substantiated the plot to be ideal for the construction of an Ayyappa temple. The Ashtamangalya Prashnam also helped the committee decide the exact location to construct a temple with the Main idol (Dev) Kaliyuga Varadhan Sree Ayyappa Swami and the Upadevatas (subidols) Sree Ganapati, Sree Hanuman, Subramanya Swami and Devi. The Ashtamangalya Prashnam also revealed the head priest from Sree Guruvayoor temple, Sree Kakkadu Vasudevan Namboothiri as the Kshetra Tantri (Temple Head).

As unravelled through the Ashtamangalya Prashnam, a Kalvilakku (Rock lamp) was erected later and the Bhajans along with prayers and offerings in a small way continued every Saturday under the auspices of Sree Unnikrishnan Nair. Meanwhile, Sree Kanipayyur Krishnan Namboothiri was nominated and ushered in from his native place, as the Vaastu Shilpi (Chief Architect) and he suggested the Moolasthana (Demarcated Area with divisions) for the temple construction. Every Mandalakalam, at the onset of the Vrushika month, Mandala pooja and Bhajans are beautifully performed along with Annadanam for full 41 days. It's a very rare event to be seen among all the Ayyappa temples in Mumbai. And for years together, in the month of Dhanu, during Karthikanaal, Laksha Deepam (one lakh lamps) are lit to welcome the divine blessings of the Devi for all the devotees.

With time, the number of devotees and their offerings “Bhagwat Chaitanya” increased and it was deemed that the Balalayam (present place) would not suffice to enshrine the ever-increasing reverence of Lord Ayyappa. Hence, according to the Tantri's advice, the first stage of Kshadadharam was completed on 31* March, 2010 with the cooperation of all Ayyappa devotees from the area.

The construction of the temple will commence before 15" January, 2016, for which the plot has been clearly demarcated for the main idol and sub idols and separate estimates are attached herewith. Devotees who wish donate towards this sacred cause as an individual or as a group may please come forward. The divine Kshetram is expecting your hearty cooperation, help and participation towards this holy karma.
